Yesterday was Pioneers' Day at the Schools' Exhibition, and a large number of teachers who had taught in departmental schools 40 or 50 years ago attended. They were all impressed by the remarkable advance since those days in the methods of instructing children. The group of men pioneers (from the left) comprise:- Messrs. George Mitchell (1866-1907), Harry Mitchell (1863-18??), Robert Camm (1866-1897), John J. Edgoose (no dates given) and John Porter (1865-1891).
