    EDGOOSE, John (????-1596)
The Jhon EDGOOSE who married Jhoane WRIGHT at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 11 August 1570 was probably the son of the Johnne EDGOSE of Pinchbeck, yeoman, whose will was proved at Lincoln in 1568 (or 1569?).
    (LCC Wills 1568 222)

He may, however, have been the Johnne EDGOOSE referred to in the will of Johnne EDGOOSE, carpenter, of Kirton, Lincolnshire, i.e. Johnne EDGOOSE, son of his nephew Roberte EDGOOSE.
    (LCC Wills 1567 241)

John EDGOOSE, husbandman, was buried at Pinchbeck on 6 November 1596. Letters of Administration were granted to his son John EDGOOSE.
    (LCC Admon. 1596/43)

"With the increase in the use of gunpowder the fully armoured knight, gentleman, or yeoman in Pinchbeck's case, was disappearing and had gone altogether by the end of the century....... One can only surmise that the 'coat of mail' owned by John EDGOOSE, another yeoman, in 1596 was a relic of the medieval or early Tudor era!"
(From Judith Withyman's 'Geese, Gowts and Galligaskins 1560-1660' page 224)

"Yeoman John EDGOOSE also had 'two butts' which would have been used for archery practice. He had a long four acre plot of land which was to the left side of Cuckoo Lane, a place highly suitable for such dangerous activities there being few dwellings in the area."
(ibid, page 224. John EDGOOSE was a husbandman rather than a yeoman)

William SMITHE and Joane EDGOOSE, widow, were married at Pinchbeck on 4 June 1604.
