  THE TIMBER FIRM (1893-1995) "HALF A CENTURY WITH ONE FIRM For the last 53 years, it's been a case of chips with everything for Percy CLARK. Wood chips, that is, for Percy---known to all his friends as Nobby---has worked for three generations of the EDGOOSE family in their timber merchant's business in Aldershot, W. L. Edgoose & Sons Ltd. Nobby lives at Sunny View Close, Aldershot, and has now retired as foreman at the firm's joinery department in Halimote Road. Nobby, Alderhot born and bred, went to work for the firm's founder, Mr. Walter L. EDGOOSE as an apprentice when he was 14. He stayed on when Mr. Burt EDGOOSE, a former Aldershot alderman, took control, and remembers well when today's direc, David and Michael EDGOOSE, were born. In his half century with the firm he has done almost every job there is, including helping Michael EDGOOSE erect the framework of his new timber frame home. He has also built a £2,000 staircase for England soccer captain Bobby MOORE after torld Cup win of 1966. To mark his retirement, the firm presented Nobby with an armchair and gave him a champagne send-off. What will he do in his retirement? "Well, I'll probably look in all next week to make certain they're managing---then I've got some woodwork to do around the house. Or so my wife tells me."
