Will of John THORPE (LCC WILLS 1701/254):
In the Name of God Amen the seventh day of January in the Twelfth yeare of the Raigne of our sov'aigne Lord King William the Third that now is o.'.er England &c, and in the yeare of our Lord Christe one Thousand seaven hundred I John THORPE of P Pinchbeck in the Countye of Lincolne yeoman being weake in body but of Good and perfect Memmory praised be God for the same, knowing ye uncertainety of this Transitory Life and being desirous to sett things in order, doe make and ordaine thihis m my Last Will and Testament in Manner and forme following, that is to say, first and princepally my soule I Recomend to God that Gave, trusting through the onely Mirritts of My Blessed Redeemer Jesus Christe that both soule and body shall be made partaker of a Glorious Riserrection, And my Body I Comend to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in such decent manner and Christian buryall as to my Executrix hereafter Named shall be thought meete and Convenyent and as Touchching the settleing of my temperall Estate and such Blessings and worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I doe Give bequeath & dispose of in Manner and forme following: Imprimis I Give and bequeath unto Alice my daughter twenty pounds to be paid unto her or putt out for her use within foure yeares after my decease by my said Executrix: and it if please God that the Chield that my wife is now with all bee a woman Chielde that then the said Twenty pounds shall be Equalally devided betweene them but if it be a man Chielde then my will is that it shall not have any part of it: Itm my will is that if it bee a man Chielde I doe Give unto to it All those my two houses and twentye six Acres of Land and pasture Lyining and being In Castle=bite=ham in the Countye aforesaid be the same more or less for to Enter of it when he shall attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares but if it please God that it bee a woman Cheilde then my will is that my two Daughters shall have it beteweene them Equally devided to Enter of their parts when they shall Either of them attaine to the age of one and twentye yeares as aforesaid Item I doe make my Loveing wife my full & soule Executrix of this my Last will and testament Revvoakeing all former wills she paying all my debts and putting out this My Body unto Christian buryall & I doe Give her all the Rest of my goods not all=redy Given and the rest of my houses and land towards the bringing up of my said Children unto they shall attaine the age of one and twenty yeares as aforesaid
