WILLIAM LILO or LELO 1893-
Joe LILO wrote to me on 16 April 2017:
"My name is Joseph LILO, my father is Samuel LILO, his father is William LILO. William is the son of Juliana EDGOOSE and Isililo LISITRO.
Isililo LISITRO was a 30 yr old sailor who came to Fiji and married Juliana EDGOOSE. He changed his name to LILO.
Juliana EDGOOSE was the daughter of John EDGOOSE and a Fijian woman Uata."
On 25 April he wrote that William Lilo had "a couple or maybe a few wives". He named one as Miriama. He said that his grandmother was from Rakiraki, on the western side of Vitilevu. He later clarified this and wrote that William LILO came to Rakiraki and married Miriama LOMANI. He died in Lautoka and is buried there. Joe went on to explain that they had heard how his grandfather William formed relationships with many other women and did have children with them.
