"Burning Fatality at Marlpool
Mrs. HUTCHBY, aged about 40, met with her death by burning at Marlpool on Sunday. She resided with her husband on the Ilkeston Road. She was subject to fits and during the absence of her husband at church she must have fallen into the fire. Her son, a little boy, found her quite dead burning on the fire. He managed to pull the body, which was severely burnt, off the fire and then raised the alarm."
Heanor Notes 4 June 1897:
"The case at Marlpool of the burning to death of the wife of Mr. T. HUTSBY calls for the ready sympathy of all for Mr. HUTSBY at such a terrible time. the circumstances surrounding the affair seem to have been unavoidable, and therefore no one can be held responsible for the sad occurrence."
