William, son of Thos and Ann PILKINTON (sic), was baptised at Stamford St. George, Lincolnshire, on 25 March 1805.

William PILKINTON of the parish of Market Deeping and Elizabeth BANKS of the parish of Barholm were married at Barholm by licence on 22 December 1828. Witnesses were Elizabeth PILKINGTON and George BANKS.

In 1828-1829 Jonathan and William PILKINTON had a business in Market Place, Market Deeping, Lincolnshire. They were grocers, drapers and tallow chandlers. In 1842 the business appeared to belong to Thomas and Elizabeth PILKINTON (White's Directory 1842) and it seems that a William TOLLER may have obtained an interest by about 1843 when Elizabeth PILKINTON became Elizabeth TOLLER.

"This is the Last Will and Testament of me William PILKINTON (sic) of Market Deeping in the County of Lincoln Draper I give and devise unto Jonathan PILKINTON of Market Deeping aforesaid Draper Thomas PILKINTON of Stamford in the said County of Lincoln Architect and George William BANKS of Wilsthorpe in the said County of Lincoln Farmer all and singular my real Estates whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or tenure soever the same may be and whether in possession reversion remainder or expectancy with their and every of their appurtenances to hold the same unto the said Jonathan PILKINTON Thomas PILKINTON and George William BANKS and their heirs upon trust that they and the survivor of them or the heirs of such survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease absolutely sell and dispose of my said real Estates in one or more lot or lots and either by public Auction or private contract as to them or him shall seem proper for the most money and best price or prices that can or may be reasonably had or gotten for the same and do and shall receive the money for which the same shall be so sold and pay and apply the money to arise by such sale or sales as I have hereinafter directed respecting the same and for facilitating such sale or sales and the indemnity of the purchase or purchases of my said real Estates or any part thereof I do declare that the receipt or receipts of my said Trustees or the survivor of them or ththe heirs of such survivor shall be a good and sufficient discharge or good and sufficient discharges to such purchaser and purchasers and his or their heirs for so much of the said purchase money as in such receipt or receipts shall be expressed or acknowledged to be received And that after such receipt or receipts shall be so given such purchaser or purchasers shall not be obliged to see to the application of such purchase money or any part thereof or be in anywise answerable or accountable for any loss misapplication or nonapplication thereof or any part thereof
I give and bequeath all and singular my household Goods and furniture plate linen and china unto my dear Wife Elizabeth PILKINTON to hold the same unto my said Wife for and during the term of her natural life if she shall so long continue my Widow she signing and giving an Inventory thereof to my Executors hereinafter named
I give and bequeath unto the said Jonathan PILKINTON Thomas PILKINTON and George William BANKS All and singular my money and securities for money stock in trade book debts my said household Goods and furniture plate linen and china after the deccease or second marriage of my said Wife and all and singular other my personal Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever upon trust that they or the survivor of them or the Executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease call in and collect all and every sum and sums of money due and owing to me at that time from any person or persons whomsoever and do and shall convert into money all such part of my personal Estate as shall not be or consist of money at that time and also sell and dispose of my household Goods and furniture plate linen and china after the decease or second marriage of my said Wife and after paying thereout all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences do and shall immediately after my decease pay to my said Wife the sum of sixty pounds and at the expiration of six calendar months after my decease the further sum of sixty pounds for the support of herself and of my children until the interest or dividends hereinafter mentioned will become payable and do and shall put and place out at interest upon real or government security the remainder of the clear money arising from my said personal Estate and from the sale and disposition of my said real Estates and do and shall receive the interest and dividends thereof when and as the same shall become due and payable and pay and apply the same when so received unto my said dear Wife Elizabeth PILKINGTON and her assigns uuntil the eldest of my children now or hereafter to be born shall attain the the age of twenty one years for the support of herself and the maintenance and education of my said children and when and as soon as my Eldest Child and also when and as any other of my said Children shall attain such age of twenty one years then upon trust that my said trustees or trustee for the time being do and shall pay to each such Child so attaining such age of twenty and one years the sum of two hundred pounds to and for his or her own use and benefit and do and shall from time to time continue the remainder of the money arising from my said real and personal Estates out at interest upon such security as aforesaid and pay the interest or divividends thereof to my said dear Wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life if she shall so long continue my Widow And from and immediately after the decease or second marriage of my said Wife upon trust that they my trustees or trustee for the time being do and shall pay and divide the principal money so remaining invested or placed out at interest as aforesaid unto between and amongst all my children whether now or hereafter to be born who shall live to attain the age of twentyone years if my said Wife shall be then dead or shall have married again Provided Always that in case my said Wife shall marry again during the minority of my said Children or any or either of them then I do direct that my said trtrustees or trustee for the time being do and shall pay and apply the interest or dividends of the money so placed out or invested as aforesaid for the support education and maintenance of such Children so under age in such manner and form to alall intents and purposes as my said trustees or trustee shall think most fit and proper provided also and I do hereby declare and direct that it shall and may be lawful for my trustees or trustee for the time being to pay or advance all or any of the said sum of two hundred pounds hereinbefore directed to be paid to each of my said Children upon his or her attaining the age of twenty one years for the purpose of putting or placing out any Child apprentice or Clerk to any trade professision or business or otherwise for his or her benefit or advancement in the world notwithstanding the minority of such Child and that such money had not become a vested interest in such Child And I nominate constitute and appoint the said Jonathan PILKINTON Thomas PILKINTON and George William BANKS Executors of this my Will And I do hereby declare my Will to be that it shall and may be lawful to and for my said trustees and Executors and their respective heirs Executors and Administratators by and out of all or any of the monies which by virtue of this my Will or any trust therein declared shall come to their or any of their hands to deduct retain to and reimburse themselves and himself and also to pay or allow to his or theiir Co trustee or Co Executor all such reasonable costs charges and expences as they respectively shall or may sustain expend or be put unto in or about the Execution of this my Will or any trust therein declared and also that my said trustees and Executors and their respective heirs Executors and Administrators shall be charged and chargeable only every of them for and with his and their own respective receipts payments Acts and wilful defaults and not otherwise and shall not be charged or chargeable with or for any sum or sums of money other than such as shall actually and respectively come to his or their hands by virtue of this my Will nor with nor for any loss or damage which may happen in placing out any of the monies aforesaid in or upon any funds or securities or in any Bank or Bankers hands or elsewhere for safe custody or otherwise nor with or for any loss or damage which may happen in or about the Execution of all or any of the trusts hereby in them repossed unless the same shall happen by or through his or their wilful neglect or default And lastly hereby revoking and declaring void all former and other Wills by me at any time herefore made I do declare this only to be my last Will and Testamenent In Witness whereof I the said William PILKINTON the testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal that is to say my hand to the two first sheets thereof and in my hand and seal to this third and last sheet thereof thiis fourteenth day of
