Notes
SARAH PAYNE 1765 or 1766-1806
Sarah, wife of Wm PILKINTON (sic), was buried at Stamford St. George, Lincolnshire, on 23 May 1806 aged 40.
(LFHS)
NOTE:
John (x) COOPER of Welchersdam married a Sarah PILKINTON (sic) spinster of this parish at Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, on 29 January 1792 by licence. Witnesses were Thomas PAYNE, Mary PAYNE, and Thomas NEWITT jun.
(CFHS PR transcription)
No proof that this is the correct family, but no COOPER/PILKINTON marriage was found in the LFHS Marriage Index. No other PILKIN(G)TON marriages at Chatteris. Interestingly, Sarah PILKINTON's brother William (1766-1812) had married a Sarah PAYNE at Stamford St. Michael in 1789.
