(GRO March Q 1862 Lincoln 7a 444) From the 1881 census of Newark Road, Bracebridge, Lincolnshire: William SPAFFORD, head, aged 58, wheelwright at works, born at Beckingham, Lincolnshire; Ann SPAFFORD, wife, aged 43, born at Marston, Lincolnshire; *Walter SPAFFORD, son, aged 19, general labourer, unmarried, born at Lincoln; Mary A. SPAFFORD, daughter, aged 15, servant domestic, born at Bracebridge, Lincolnshire; Bernard SPAFFORD, son, aged 6, scholar, born at Bracebridge, Lincolnshire. (RG11/3238/115/36) He died aged 30 in 1892. (GRO June Q 1892 Ecclesall B. 9c 206). Apparently he was killed in an accident on 17 June 1892 whilst working on the Dore and Chinley Tunnel.
