He was fostered by his mother's brother and her brother's wife and is believed to have been eventually adopted by them. He took their surname of DAWSON. They were known in the family as "Uncle Dick" and "Aunt Sally". George Cecil HORRY (1915-1998) and Frank W. HORRY (1917-1982) discovered that Robbie was their brother only when they enlisted in the forces. They had always thought he was their brother.
