    NOTE: The vast majority of the information on the HARWIN ancestry of Doris Malisande EDGOOSE (1908-2003) has come from Rhys WHATMORE and his cousin Beryl Anne.

    The birth of Emma HARWIN was registered in 1877. She was born at Walsoken, Norfolk, on 15 August 1877, daughter of Robert and Alice HARWIN formerly FENDLEY. Her father Robert HARWIN was described as a railway plate layer on her birth certificate.

    According to an e-mail from her descendant Rhys David WHATMORE dated 26 November 2000 the HARWINs lived on the west bank of the river Nene at the Black Sluice Gatehouse almost opposite the Walton Dam Inn 'which I believe the EDGOOSE family ran and an adjacent house called Lyndhurst where they later lived'.

    She married Frank William Dawson EDGOOSE at the Baptist Chapel, Upper Hill Street, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, on 16 April 1906. Frank William Dawson EDGOOSE was described as a 26 year old bachelor, a journeyman blacksmith, of 9 Oxford Terrace, Charles Street, Peterborough. Emma was a 27 year old spinster living near the Ferry Station, West of Nene, Walsoken. Witnesses were William BURBRIDGE (probably the W. B. who had married Emma HARWIN's sister Sarah Jane 1868-1944) and Ethel HARWIN (probably Emma's sister Ethel).

    Her eldest sister was housekeeper to a French woman in London named Malisande, after whom their daughter Doris Malisande EDGOOSE was named in 1908.

    Emma EDGOOSE died at 38 Whitacre Road, Small Heath, Birmingham on 5 February 1957 aged 79. She was described as the widow of Frank William EDGOOSE engineering blacksmith. The informant on 6 February 1957 was D. M. EDGOOSE of 38 Whitacre Road, Birmingham 9. Cause of death was I(a) Coronary Thrombosis I(b) Essential Hypertension.

    Emma EDGOOSE of 38 Whitacre-road, Birmingham 8, widow, died on 5 February 1957. Letters of Administration were granted at Birmingham on 7 March 1957 to Doris Malisande EDGOOSE, spinster. Effects amounted to
