The wills of Thomas CURTIS and of his wife Ellen Elizabeth CURTIS contain unusual clauses which might restrict the freedoms of Thomas CURTIS junior and his brother Nelson CURTIS. See WILLS and PROBATE in the index to https://edgoose.one-name.net for copies of the Wills.
Clause 4 of Ellen Elizabeth CURTIS'S will reads as follows: "I BEQUEATH unto my Trustees free of duty the sum of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS Upon Trust at his entire discretion to give from time to time the same or any part or parts thereof or any income arising therefrom to my son THOMAS CURTIS Should my Trustee at the expiration of five years from my death or at the death of my said Son Thomas Curtis whichever event first happens not have so given any part of the said sum or income in this clause referred to to [sic] my said Son THOMAS CURTIS I bequeath the same or the balance thereof unto my daughter ELLEN WEARING for her own use absolutely".
Clause 5 of her will is identical to Clause 4 except that the son in question is Nelson CURTIS.
