Elizabeth, daughter of John and Sarah RAINFORD of St. Hilary, Wallasey, Cheshire, was baptised at Wallasey, Cheshire, on 27 June 1777.

James ENSOR married Elizabeth RAINFORD at Wallasey, Cheshire, on 8 June 1800. In the marriage entry (Cheshire Records Office) James is described as "of HM Navy" (In England the Royal Marines are attached to the Royal Navy). Elizabeth RAINFORD was from a prominent Cheshire family with estates in Jamaica.

She was buried in Highgate Cemetery. The inscription on her grave reads:
"To the memory of Elizabeth, the beloved wife of James ENSOR, Esq. Died the 10th of May, 1844, aged 67 years. Respected and esteemed by all who knew her."

The Will of Elizabeth ENSOR formerly RAINFORD, husband of James ENSOR:
"This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Ensor wife of James ENSOR formerly of
Austin Friars in the City of London Merchant now of Hownslow in the County of Middlesex Gentleman I do hereby direct and appoint give will and bequeath to my dear husband James Ensor his executors administrators and assigns for his and their absolute use and benefit all my estate real and personal of whatever nature kind or description the same may be wherever situated and from whatever source arising to which I am entitled or of which I have the power of disposing by virtue of any appointment under any and every deed or settlement
or otherwise howsoever and I hereby nominate and appoint my said dear son James Rainford ENSOR Executors of this my last will and Testament and I revoke cancel and make void all former wills and testamentary dispositions and I declare this onlnlnly to be my last will and Testament to which I have set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty three - Elizabeth ENSOR. Signed sealed published and declared by the said testatrix Elizabeth Ensor as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses - John HENLEY Surgeon Ji P. Hounslow Thos. DIXCEY artist Hounslow.
On the 13th July 1844 Admon (with the will annexed) of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Elizabeth ENSOR (wife of James ENSOR Esq.) formerly RAINFORD spinster late of Hounslow in the County of Middlesex deceased was granted to t the said James ENSOR the lawful husband of the said deceased and as such the sole person entitled to her personal estate and effects over which she had no disposing power and concerning which she is dead Intestate and one of the Executors named in the said will he having been first sworn duly to administer James Rainford ENSOR the the son the other Executor named in the said will having first [indecypherable] the probate and execution thereof as by acts of Court appears."
