(GRO September Q 1845 Wokinghaqm 6 284) From the 1851 census of Wokingham, Berkshire: George MILES, head, aged 37, beerseller, place of birth not known; Elizabeth MILES, wife, aged 47, place of birth not known; Martha MILES, daughter, aged 9, scholar, born at Wokingham, Berkshire; George MILES, son, aged 8, scholar, born at Wokingham, Berkshire; *Jane MILES, daughter, aged 6, scholar, born at Wokingham, Berkshire. (HO107/1693/165/2) The death or marriage of a Jane MILES has not been traced, but the death of an Elizabeth Jane MILES was registered in 1857. (GRO September Q 1857 Wokingham 2c 235) No trace of an Elizabeth Jane MILES has been found in the 1851 census of Wokingham, lending credence to the theory that Jane and Elizabeth Jane are one and the same.
