  ELIAS BUTCHER Circa 1844- No trace of the family has been found in the Tasmanian censuses for 1842, 1843, 1851 and 1857 but in early 1848 they were living at Stephenson Farm, Launceston, with three unnamed additions to the family. Elias was described as a farmer living in a wooden house owned by Mr. STUBBS. The family consisted of 7 persons: one adult male and one adult female aged between 21 and 45, and 5 males and 1 female aged between 2 and 7 years. Three of the male children were stated to have been born in the colony. Their religion was Church of England. (Tasmanian Archives CEN1/1/103) (revised 07.06.2011)
