James EDGOOSE was born at Kirton-in-Holland, Lincolnshire, on 17 September 1883, son of John William and Sarah Ann EDGOOSE.

John William EDGOOSE had married Sarah Ann WOODS at Boston, Lincolnshire, on 16 May 1883.
James, son of John William and Sarah Ann EDGOOSE of Kirton was baptised at Kirton-in-Holland, Lincolnshire, on 7 October 1883. His father's occupation was that of Platelayer.

On 23 February 1901 he was apprenticed to John LANGLEY of Kirton-in-Holland for four years to learn blacksmithing. According to the apprenticeship indentures his wages were to be five shillings a week for the first year and six, eight, and ten shillings a week for the subsequent three years. He is listed as a blacksmith's apprentice of Kirton in the 1901 census.

James Edgoose was a Master Blacksmith at Gosberton, Lincolnshire. He was described as such on his son Walter's death certificate. The Gosberton burial register gives his deceased son's address as Willow Cottage, Gosberton.

James EDGOOSE, Master Blacksmith, died at Swindon [sic] Cottages, Gosberton, on 2 February 1937 aged 52. He was in fact 53 years old. The informant on 3 February 1937 was F. BAKER of Woodbine Cottage, Gosberton, present at the death.

James EDGOOSE of Swinton [sic] Cottages was buried at Gosberton Cemetery on 5 February 1937. There is a gravestone.
