Sidney Rainford ENSOR, son of James ENSOR and Elizabeth, was born on 13 November 1808 and baptised at the Old Church, St. Pancras, Middlesex, on 8 February 1809.
(PR)
"At Kensington, Sidney Rainford ENSOR, Esq., of Dorset-street Portland-square, to Miss Frederica J. SEDLEY, of Notting Hill."
(Jackson's Oxford Journal, Saturday, November 5, 1831, Issue 4097)
As S. R. ENSOR he published a letter in the Lancet in 1832 about the use of quinine for cholera.
(Source: Laura A. Wallace)
"Laura Wallace has that Sidney was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons until 1846. He emigrated from England in about 1831 and settled in St. Charles Co., MO, by 1834. He purchased land there and in adjacent Lincoln Co. in the 1830s. He lived in St. Charles Co. after marrying Berrilla in 1840 but appears to be the age 30-39 male counted in the 1840 household of mother-in-law, Kitty S. Jameson".

NOTES & QUERIES:
1840 US Census:
1850 US Census:
1860 US Census: As above
1870 US Census:
From Laura WALLACE: His name does not appear on the tax lists until 1836...... Nick GRIBBLE listed a son Robert born 1837 with Berilla as the mother. That's possible of course but I've wondered.
Nick GRIBBLE lists a son Frederick ENSOR born 1833 who married twice, firstly to unknown and secondly to Martha Emerson who gave him two children: Ella and Anna. Was Frederick ENSOR a son of Sidney and Frederica?
Betty Ann BLOCKUS (texasgal445 at yahoo.com) wrote on 7 March 2014: My GGGgrandfather was Dr. Sidney ENSOR, and we have been unaware of his marriage to Frederica Johanna SEDLEY. Can yoy tell us more about this marriage - were there children? Did she die? Was there a divorce?"
