    John EDGOOSE was born at Kirton, Lincolnshire, on 15 January 1919, eldest son of Fred EDGOOSE, a Kirton farm labourer, and his wife Nelly. His father was the informant on 28 January.

    John EDGOOSE, a 26 year old bachelor decribed as 4804368 Private, Sherwood Foresters (bricklayer) from Chepstow (home address No. 9, Tilney Avenue, Boston, Lincs) and son of Frederick EDGOOSE bus driver, married Beatrice Ellen VOYCE by licence on 7 April 1945. Beatrice Ellen VOYCE, a 19 year old spinster, an assistant nurse, of No. 5 Bungalow, Hewelsfield, Forest of Dean, was the daughter of Richard Oswald VOYCE, timber faller. Witnesses were Charlotte Ellen VOYCE and Richard O. VOYCE.

    He was described as a printer at a label manufacturers on the marriage certificate of his eldest son in 1969.

    The Official Street Directory of Boston 1969-70 lists him at 202 Carlton Road, Boston. He was still there in 1971.

    He was described as a retired label manufacturer's supervisor on his son Frederick John EDGOOSE's marriage certificate in 1985.

    John EDGOOSE died at the Pilgrim Hospital, Fishtoft Lincolnshire, on 4 December 1999 at the age of 80. He was described as a Supervisor (Retired) of 145 Fenside Road, Boston, Lincolnshire.

    From the Boston Target, 15 December 1999:
    "Mr John EDGOOSE of Fenside Road, Boston, has died at Pilgrim Hospital. He was 80.
    Mr EDGOOSE had undergone open heart surgery in 1971, and died while recovering from a heart triple bypass operation in September this year.
    A widower, he leaves sons and daughters-in-law (names withheld)
    Mr EDGOOSE was born in Kirton and, apart from World War Two, lived in the town all his life. During his early life he worked with the Lincolnshire Roadcar bus service, before working at Fisher Clark and subsequently Norprint for more 10 years until retirement in 1984. He went on to work part-time at Tesco.
    Mr EDGOOSE was a keen angler and belonged to various clubs over the years.
    He was an enthusiastic member of Boston Boys Amateur Boxing Club, where he was vice-chair-man until his death.
    Mr. EDGOOSE served with the army during World War Two, and was wounded in Dunkirk.
    His funeral service, conducted by the Rev Ken ALMOND, took place at Boston Crematorium. Donations were made to the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.

    A year later he and is wife were still listed at 145 Fenside Road, Boston, Lincolnshire.
