EDWARD CAESAR -1731
The Will of Edward CAESAR, 29 December 1730:
In the Name of God Amen. I Edward CAESAR of Mattingley with County of Southton husbandman being sick and tireashe in body but of sound perfect and disposing mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same doe make this my last will and testament in manner following And I first commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God from whom I received the same and my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the deiscretion [sic] of my Executive hereafter named and as for such goods and chattels as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give devise and bequeathe the same as followeth and in the first place I give and bequeath unto my son Edward CAESAR and to his executors administrators and assigns one half of my stock without doores and alsoe one half of part of my household goods within doors and as for the other halfe part of my stock without doors and the residue of my household goods furniture of household ready moneys goods and that all whwhatsoever I give and devise unto my loving wife Mary CESAR to have the use of the same for and during the terme of her natural life provided she continue so long my widow towards the breeding up of my children but in case she marry again then mmy will is that the aforesaid stock hereby before bequeathed to her my said wife shall goe unto and be equally divided between my children (viz.) James Richard Stephen Joseph and Benjamin and I do hereby devise the same accordingly and my further will is that after the decease of my said wife my said stock that my said wife shall dye possessed of shall also go unto and be equally divided equally amongst my said children James Richard Stephen Joseph and Benjamin. Item I give unto my soon John CAESAR and Elizabeth the now wife of Thomas PAYNE one schilling a piece only then having already had their portions and do hereby make constitute and appoint my said wife full and sole executive of this my last will and I do hereby devisise and appoint my loving friend John WICHINS of Heckfield in the County aforesaid Maister and my brother in Law Joseph MILES aforesaid husbandman to be trustee and overseer of this my will and to see that the same be duely performed according to the time intent and meaning of the same and I do hereby revoke all former and other wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale this twenty ninth day of December Anno Domini 1730 the Marke of Edward CAESAR the Testator signed sealed published and delivered as the Last will and testament of the said Edward CAESAR and all attested in the Presence of the Testator by Katherine BURGESS Ann CAPLIN IV LAMPORT
