      THE WILL OF WILLIAM KIRBIE (????-1568) of Whaplode, Lincolnshire, husbandman, in which Robert EDGOWS (Circa 1528-Post 1584) was a beneficiary and Robert EDGOOSE was a witness. The two Roberts are probably synonymous. Robert EDGOOSE was the father of Thomas EDGOOSE (1564-1565) and Thomas ETGOOSE (1567-1637)

      The Will of William KIRBIE (????-1568) the younger of Whaplode, Lincolnshire, husbandman, in which Robert EDGOWSE was a beneficiary and Robert EDGOOSE was named as a witness:

      "In the name of god amen The viijth day of may in the yere of o(u)r lord god 1568 I will(ia)m KIRBIE the younger of Whaplode in the countie of lincoln husbandma(n) beinge in good mynd and of a p(er)fecte memorie thankes be geven to god do make this my last will and testament in man(ner) and forme followinge
      Fyrst I bequeth my soule to almightie god and my bodie to be buried in the church yard of whaplod also I bequeth to the mother church of lincoln iiijd Also I do geve for tythes forgotten iiijd Also I do geve to the church of whaplode vjs viijd to be paid one mydsom(mer) day next after decease Also I bequeth to xxtie poore folkes ijd apece to be geven betwixt this and sainte Peters day next after my decease
      Also I bequeth to Thomas KIRBIE my sonne and to John KIRBIE my sonne X ewe shepe to be letten to the best profit that can be and the money to be equallie devided betwixt them both the said shepe to be delyvered by the hands of my executrix & put out by the handes of my sup(er)visors at midsomer next comynge after my decease
      Also I bequeth to Thomas my sonne xli of good and lawfull money of England to be paid to them [sic] at the age of xviij yeres by the handes of my executrix
      also I bequeth to John my sonne xli of good and lawfull money of England to be paid to him at the age of xviij yeres by the handes of my executrix
      Also I will that if either of my sonnes do dep(ar)te out of this world w(i)t(h) out anie issue lawfullie begotten of their bodies that then the longer lyver shall have both partes
      Also I will that if it fortune so that both my sonnes do dep(ar)te out of the world w(i)t(h) out anie yssue lawfullie begotten of their bodies then I will the one half shall remaine to my wif and the other half to be distributed to the poore folke of whaplod to be geven to them by the handes of the vicar and the churchwardens that shalbe at that day and two other honest men this w(hi)ch xli I will shalbe destributed in [End of Page 1] the space of v yeres
      Also I will that if that god shall caule my wif and my children or they come to the age of xviii yeres then the said xli that shall remayne frome my children to my wif shalbe equallie devided betwixt my two brethren and my ij sisters and to their heires

      The residue of all my goods and cattalles my debtes paid and my legacies fulfilled and my bodie brought to the ground I geve them to Collet KIRBIE my wif whom I make and ordaine my faithfull executrix and will(ia)m KIRBIE my father and Thomas DAWSON my brother in lawe to be my Sup(er)visors of this my last will and testament and they for to have for their paines takinge iiis iiijd apece
      Also I will that my Sup(er)visores shall take sufficient bandes at all tymes for my childers best behowfe accordinge to the full meaninge and purpose of this my last will and testament
